TOOTH (dente) TEETH (dentes)
The 20 deciduous (baby - Milky's teeth) teeth into a child’s mouth are gradually replaced by a permanent collection of 32 teeth.
The 8 incisors (4 on the upper jaw and 4 on the lower mouth) have an erect, sharp perimeter for cutting and biting. The 4 pointed canines are specialized for forcing.
The 8 bicuspids (or premolars) missing among the deciduous (baby) teeth have sharpening surfaces, as do the 12 more massive molars.
In parentheses are the ages that these teeth come in.
The third molars (absent in some people) are called wisdom/intelligence teeth.
Translated and adapted from "Cartilha de Saúde Bucal da Secretaria de Saúde do DF".
Popular speech: Without third molar, without wisdom.
Sem o dente "ciso" sem juizo.
